Riley has had a rough time since she found her sisters body. Now she is at Oxford on scholarship working on her thesis about Queen Elizabeth, but Hatter her tutorial partner and fellow scholarship applicant are trying for the spot. Her only friend in the whole place is Charles the librarian and he advises her to stay away from the Elites Hatter, Rabbit, Cat and Knight. They are all different and have been hurt in the past but everything changes when she gets the Queen of Spades card instead of the Queen of Hearts. This book was a quirky spin on an Alice and Wonderland retelling and I enjoyed the relationships of all of the characters. I look forward to reading more from the author in the future!
