Hazel and her daughter Wren are on the run after she stabbed Timo the leader of the gang she is part of. But when she sees the cart heading out of the city she takes the opportunity to stow away in it. She is not expecting to find Orcs manning the carts and she meets Vark who shows them both nothing but kindness. Vark is taken aback when he finds his mate stowed away and knows there is more to her story, but he made a wager that if she can beat him in fighting then she will leave after spring. I really enjoyed seeing Vark get his happily ever after and I can’t wait to read Korr and Ivy’s book!
